✒ Talk is no longer cheap.
Clubhouse, an audio-based social media platform, lets users create live chatrooms or listen in top investors and celebrities. It managed to attract 2 million users since the launch back in April 2020.
Clubhouse raised money about 8 month ago at a US$100m valuation (the app only had 5k beta users and was not yet in the App Store back then). It is now raising a new around, potentially at a US$1bn valuation. This time, the app is still making zero revenue, doesn’t have an Android app, and remains invite-only.
In the last round of funding, Josh Felser (co-founder of venture firm Freestyle and an early Clubhouse user) said that “it’s either dead by July or it’s something big”.
It wasn’t dead by July 2020 (and it is eyeing a 10x price tag since then).
