A good follow-up read as a continuation of the ESG topics after reading Mark Carney’s Value(s), which talks about how companies can embrace stakeholder capitalism (as opposed to shareholder primacy), putting values into action.
It proposes a business model that puts people and planet first. Plenty of examples showing how numerous successful businesses are doing it, as well as deep dives of Unilever’s approaches under the leadership of Paul Polman.
P.S.: Unilever’s approach is not without criticism. Fundsmith, an investment firm based in London, pointed to the performance of the conglomerate’s stock, and said that the company is “obsessed” with displaying its credentials.
